GIFEC signs MOU with GhLA

The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ghana Library Authority to commence a partnership that seek to equip libraries in the country with Information Communication Technology(ICT) tools. 

Under the partnership, GIFEC has already provided 100 laptops to GhLA in support of its Mobile Library Vans services to provide digital access to reading materials, as well, conduct ICT training in rural communities and schools. 

According to the Administrator of GIFEC, Kofi Asante, this move ties in well with the rebirth and transformation currently ongoing at the GhLA. He believes the partnership would "enable both organizations to achieve our collective objective to meet the aspirations of Ghanaians in the era of digital inclusion agenda of government”. 

Executive Director (Ag) of GhLA, Hayford Siaw expressed gratitude to GIFEC for the partnership and recognition of the critical role of public libraries in the era of digital inclusion. He further added, " equipping libraries with computers would aid patrons to have access to electronic contents and further deepen our goal of making libraries a more innovative and connected centers for young people ".
